History:
Anyone who meets Zetsu asks themselves what kind of an upbringing a person would have to go through to turn out anything like what Zetsu is. Zetsu was born on a cold night in the middle of a dense wood, while his parents were out camping. It was his mother’s idea, despite how much her doctor begged her against it, to give birth to her child the natural way. It didn’t matter to her, at the time of her decision that her life might be in danger, as well as her child’s. After several long hours of painful labor, his mother was killed just as she was giving birth to the odd baby boy that is Zetsu. As Zetsu’s father took the warm and tiny body in his arms, he debated whether to kill the boy that his wife had given birth to.

It is at this point in time that one most know of the type of person Zetsu’s father was. Zetsu’s father was a man who was one of very low morals. He was a lawyer, and a very corrupt one at that. He was a very rich man, but there was only one thing that he had in his life that he had any real love for, and that was his wife. When she got pregnant, many difficulties came to her, as she was a very small and weak woman, albeit beautiful. Her pregnancy with her little precious baby only caused Zetsu’s father to drink more, and prompt an increase in violence. In turn, this behavior stressed out Zetsu’s mother, increasing the difficulties in her pregnancy. In short, while Zetsu’s mother and father were very close, the true nature of their own personalities caused the death of Zetsu’s mother.

Contemplating what it would take from him to raise a child as an only parent, Zetsu’s father chose to raise him in memory of his wife. Although he was angry at the small bundle as well as saddened by his wife’s death, the responsibility that Zetsu’s father had in the death of his wife was placed on the small shoulders of the baby that was named Zetsu. However, in this decision, Zetsu’s father never had the intention to be very kind to the only living entity of his wife. In her last dieing breaths, Zetsu’s mother decided on the name for her beloved baby. Zetsu, meaning both ‘reed’ and ‘tongue’, was a name that Zetsu’s mother had been debating about for a long time the day of her death. Although it was a very obscure name, she had wanted a name that had some meaning to her, and no matter how many other names she went through, no other names suited the voice she heard, edging her one on her crazy ways.

From birth, Zetsu was a very special person, although his father chose to ignore it. The first thing that any normal person would notice about Zetsu is the fact that his eyes are two very different colors. He has both his mother’s light blue eyes as well as his father’s dark brown eyes. However, despite how much potential Zetsu had as a young child, his father only saw him as a monster and a demon. The one memory that is strongest about is father is that of the abuse, and because of this, his other half soon developed. He doesn’t remember, now that it has been such a long time, which was the original side. By the age of 4, two Zetsu’s inhabited one body, a small reflection on the name his mother gave him (the meaning ‘tongue’ could be a reference on his ‘two tongues’ or personalities)

Growing up, Zetsu detested his father and cursed his dead mother because of the life that they had created for him. Zetsu found friends in odd places because of the fact that he was alone a lot of the time. His father would kick him out of the house in drunken and angered fits; It was then that Zetsu would look to plants for company. When Zetsu was younger, they were his playmates. Growing older, they became his confidants and more. When Zetsu learned to read, he began to pick up any book that he could understand on plants. By the time that Zetsu was in high school, the boy would spend hours on end reading college text books in the library about the only things that cared who or what he was.

In a red sunset, Zetsu’s father was found dead by the neighbor who had heard a lot of crashing. Zetsu was 15, and it was the happiest day of Zetsu’s short life. However, because of the unfortunate occurrence, that the mortician pinned on a heart attack, Zetsu was forced to go live with the only living relatives that could be found. It was on that night, that Zetsu’s ‘black’ side showed his full potential for the first time. Although he was never caught, Zetsu ended up poisoning his father’s glass of nightly alcohol, causing something that would replicate a heart attack. This action only proved to Zetsu that the plants were the only thing that he could truly count on. For the 3 years that Zetsu lived with his mother’s sister, he never showed any signs of compassion or caring toward the people who had long been kept from the boy because of his father’s wishes. On the day that Zetsu turned 18, he moved out and began a life of his own. He applied, with a very high gpa, to the best medical school that would let him in, The University of Pennsylvania.

After six or so years in College, less than three of that being undergraduate education and more than three in specialized training, Zetsu found himself working Hiruzen Memorial Medical Center as the Head lab worker. His talents are highly respected and very special. He was quick to raise ranks in the hospital. Not only does Zetsu have his own laboratory at the hospital, he has his own office. Zetsu is the person that is called, since he is one of the only specialists in herbal poisons and antidotes in the state, when the police need his help. He also works with the Mortician as a second opinion on the toxins found in deceased bodies. He works close to the doctors, finding new cures from his herbal remedies. He uses his government funding on anything from his underground friends to researching new poisons and remedies for these poisons. Of course this research remains mostly secret.

Zetsu has a hobby of seeing how many people on the black market are interested in buying what he has to sell. However, the price of his poison is pricy, so few people can afford his price, unless that person is an assassin. Because of this middle man dealing, Zetsu constantly is chasing his own tail, and playing 'cover-up' when someone makes a messy kill that doesn't need to be known about. It is not often that something like this happens, for with Zetsu being disposal for the Mafia, few find any traces of what he doesn't want you to find. Zetsu is good at his job, and has no moral short comings because of it.


Personality:
Zetsu is a very complicated person, despite his first appearance. At first you meet a very quite guy, who rarely talks and stays in the background. Zetsu is the type to be in a conversation and never say a thing, listening for anything that he would find important. Most people find him awkward, having him hovering around listening to what they say. There is no way that he can be normal. No way at all. On a first glance, Zetsu seems to be a person who is very easily to read, being as he seems so one dimensional to those he works with. However, there are many things about him that would surprise people. Very few people get to know Zetsu, and thus, much of his personality remains a mystery.

Zetsu, despite how cold he may seem, is a very caring person. However, this caring aspect is only shown to one thing, his plants. Zetsu’s obsession with plants is very odd, and probably a very unhealthy one at that. If you aren’t one of his plants, you would do well to stay on good terms with the man. This is a very easy thing to do, since Zetsu cares for very few things. However, those who get on his bad side, haven’t lived long to tell there tales. The best part about this is the fact that no one will ever find out.

Now, there is another thing that one must know to fully understand Zetsu. He has multiple personality disorder. There are two completely flip sides to his personality. While both of his sides share his love of plants and his quite nature, his ‘white’ side is much more docile then his ‘black’ side. His white side seems to be much kinder, and it is possible that this was his original side, before his abusive father beat the anger into him. His black side, well, he is violence and anger bundled into a form. He is found to have the more aggressive opinions and the more domineering personality. With these two sides, Zetsu can be found to be having conversations with himself, each side holding true to their personality

In large crowds, Zetsu finds it unnecessary to speak much, unless there is something important to say. When Zetsu does speak, people tend to listen more, and are impressed by what he has to say. That is, if he graces you with conversation. The best time to catch Zetsu speaking would be during a side conversation with himself. Other than that, there may be a few one word responses, unless he is addressed by Tsunade or Madara. Tsunade and Madara seem to be the only two people to actually gage the man in conversation. Tobi is an exception, for Zetsu normally only speaks to him out of irritation.

Of course, it can be guessed that the ‘black’ Zetsu is the more dominate person. He is the one to talk of taking action and the one to be much more aggressive. ‘Black’ Zetsu finds pleasure in poisons and, more importantly, death. ‘White’ Zetsu enjoys the more soothing aspect that plants can have, antidotes and herbal teas are what he prefers. Zetsu’s ‘white’ half tends to be more subtle and submissive, compared to his black half. While most people tend to see Zetsu’s ‘white’ side, no one can say for sure which Zetsu is the ‘true’ Zetsu. Perhaps the ‘black’ half, since he is more dominate, wishes to hide himself from everyone, waiting for the right moment to stick his ugly head out. Whichever one be the true Zetsu, the man is a very interesting and hard to understand person.

Talents:
Zetsu has many unusual talents that he uses in his day to day life. The one that he will brag about the most is his ability to care for plants. He has always been able to care for the most exotic plant, especially his favorite the Venus fly trap, and care for their bizarre needs, and allow them to flourish. Zetsu is also able to effectively sneak around without anyone knowing of his whereabouts. This comes in very handy when Zetsu takes on his Mafia job. Along with these two things, Zetsu is very good with his words, and knows how and when to use them, and when he speaks, it is done with much expertise. Emotions are not something that holds Zetsu back, for Zetsu cares for no one. The dead do not bother him, and disposing of them leave him able to sleep peacefully at night.

Hobbies: Zetsu has always cared for his plans. It is what he has based his whole life on, and he still goes home to care for his babies. Since Zetsu doesn't have many friends, these are his life, and they are all that he truly cares about. They could be called his one weakness, too.

Orientation: Not attracted to anything except, perhaps, plants
